If being headquartered in New Jersey wasn’t bad enough, Secaucus based children’s clothing giant The Children’s Place really stepped in it recently.
A back-to-school themed tee shirt for girls hit the shelves, and customers hit the roof. The issue?
Yes, this is what the actual shirt had printed on it.
Needless to say, an uproar ensued.
Now to be fair, not everyone was outraged.
A poll conducted by boston.com revealed that of the 1,400 votes cast, 55.74 % found the shirt offensive, and the remaining 44.26 % did not.
We did our own in-office poll of female staff members.
100% found it offensive.
The Children’s Place quickly realized they were in some hot water, so a prompt apology was issued.
But the damage is done.
(At least I think it is, my math skills are decent.)
Have a great weekend!
