Have you heard the rumors? 👀 Word on the street is Marketing Plus has moved their office to a new building in Fresno…close to many delicious restaurants, grocery stores and even Starbucks. The best part is…they absolutely love it. 🤯 If you’ve heard any of this piping hot tea, then you should know it’s ALL TRUE!
That’s right, the M+ team has made some pretty awesome changes in 2024 and its only March. Business is business as usual just in a different office and part of town that we are absolutely loving! However, as awesome as our new office is, we had to MOVE to get here, and I don’t know about you but moving sucks! The idea of packing up your entire life where you’ve been comfortably living and hauling it across town and unpacking it all in a new environment isn’t exactly the most fun – you know what I’m talking about. We’ve all moved at least once or twice…and if you haven’t, count your lucky stars!
With the new year in full swing, it’s inevitable that new opportunities and changes will arise and when they do, it’s always best to be prepared. That’s why we have gone above and beyond to help you, our fellow businesspeople with your next office move/ office move-in! (whether that be next week or next year!) Since we just went through the strenuous act of purging, packing, moving, and unpacking, we thought it would be fun to create a complete checklist of what you may need to do for your business move.
Pre-Move Checklist:
- Decide if you are keeping or changing your business phone system.
- Notify your current company of your move if keeping.
- Look for different options and run with what will work best for your business in your new office.
- Launch your ‘We’re Moving’ campaign for your vendors/clients:
- Post on your socials, send out an e-blast to your vendors/clients.
- Order your company branded letter head/envelopes with your new business address.
- Inventory any client materials you may have on hand.
- Acquire moving boxes for packing.
Stage 1 – The Purge:
- Go through your entire office and donate/trash anything that you are not currently using/is not integral to your business.
Stage 2 – The Pack:
- Pack entire office!
- Office Supplies
- Kitchen/bathroom items
- Client materials
- Personal desk items
- Office furniture
- Computers, printers, phone system and any other tech items
- Any other items
- Make sure old office space is empty and ready for new tenants (if applicable)
Stage 3 – The Sale:
- Picture and post any owned office furniture or tech items you may not be taking with you for sale on Facebook Marketplace, Nextdoor, Letgo or have a yard sale!
- Find homes or donate any remaining items.
Stage 4 – The Move:
- Arrange U-Haul and any help with moving for moving day.
- Load U-Haul or moving truck.
- Make sure office phone system and WIFI are up and working for computers/printers.
- Unpack and organize office items in new space.
- File client files in appropriate cabinets.
- Set up new workspace.
- Change business mailing address with USPS, FedEx & UPS.
- Get settled!
Hopefully this complete checklist will help you with your next office move or new business move-in! At the end of the day, moving is stressful no matter how many awesome plans and checklists you may have in place. Take it one day at a time and remember it will all be worth it once your settled in your brand-new fancy office.
