The Big Show – Our Top Tips to Get You Through Tradeshow Week
Think October. The time of grim grinning ghosts and pumpkin spice lattes will soon grace us with its spooky presence, marking the changing of the seasons and the holidays just around the corner. For those of us in the produce industry, ghoulish goblins and hauntings are the least of our worries. Why, may you ask? October means it’s time for The Big Show… (DUN DUN DUUNNNN) That’s right – The Global Produce and Floral Show is back, and this time we’re headed to Atlanta, Georgia.
The International Fresh Produce Association’s Global Produce and Floral Show is our biggest tradeshow of the year, bringing in exhibitors not only from across the nation but from other countries as well, making this show a significant event. As you can imagine, the planning and buildup for this show have been in the works since January of this year! (What?!) Yes – we have been subtly working on this show for our clients since January, ensuring every ‘T’ is crossed and every ‘I’ is dotted, from dinner reservations to booth layout and services ordered. We pride ourselves on being the tradeshow experts our clients can rely on to get the job done so they don’t have to.
With a seasoned team and years of tradeshow experience under our belt, we know a thing or two about navigating such a hectic and sometimes quite stressful week of onsite management. Knowing the stress it can bring, we thought it would be helpful to create a little list of tips to get you through tradeshow week – a survival guide, if you will.
Tradeshow Week Survival Guide:
1. Plan ahead – Start making those dinner reservations now so you don’t have to scramble the week of the show.
2. Know where your team will be – Creating schedules ensures there is always booth coverage for setup, show days, and teardown.
3. Make your game plan – Strategize and set benchmarks prior to the show to give clear expectations to your team.
4. Confirm hotel reservations, booth/product shipments, etc. prior to travel.
5. Bring printed copies of all show orders with you to the show floor; it makes it much easier to reference.
6. Pack comfy shoes for the show floor; you will do A LOT of walking!
We all know that even the best-laid plans can go awry, but utilizing these six tips can help prepare you to tackle the unexpected.
